Terms of Use

Last updated 26 August 2026Lore Audio Tours LLC

The short version

  • The stories are written by a machine and can be wrong. Enjoy them; do not cite them.
  • Passes expire, and they do not renew. A pass gives you a set number of tours over a set number of days, then it ends by itself. Monthly plans do renew until you cancel.
  • Refunds come from Apple or Google, not from us — they took the payment, so only they can return it.
  • Tours you create are public and you keep owning them, but you give us permission to host and show them inside Lore.
  • Look where you are going. Lore is used outdoors, on your feet, in traffic.

This summary is here to be useful, not to be the agreement. Where the two differ, the full text below governs.

This agreement

These Terms of Use are a contract between you and Lore Audio Tours LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company at 30 N Gould St Ste N, Sheridan, WY 82801-6317, United States (“Lore”, “we”, “us”). They cover the Lore mobile app, this website, and everything you do with either.

By downloading, opening or using Lore, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. How we handle your personal data is set out separately in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of this agreement.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Lore, or 16 if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use Lore with a parent or guardian’s permission, and they accept these terms with you.

What you may do with the app

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use one copy of Lore on any device you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with the usage rules of the store you installed it from. That is the whole of the grant: we license the app to you, we do not sell it, and we keep every right we have not expressly given you here.

You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the app; reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it, except where that restriction is prohibited by law; remove or obscure any notice in it; or use it in a way that breaks the law where you are.

The stories are machine-written

Lore identifies places and writes its tours automatically, using AI. It can misidentify what you photographed, and it can state something confidently that is not true.

Tours are generated on demand by machine-learning models from your photo and your location. They are not written, checked or approved by a historian, and we do not verify them before you hear them. Treat a Lore tour as entertainment and as a starting point — not as a factual reference, and not as advice of any kind.

Do not rely on a Lore tour for anything that matters: academic work, journalism, a professional opinion, a legal or financial decision, or a decision about your safety. Check anything you intend to repeat.

If a tour gets something wrong, use Something here isn’t right inside the tour to report it. We review reports and may correct or remove a tour, but we do not promise to act on any particular one.

Using Lore in the world

You are responsible for your own safety and for paying attention to your surroundings.

Lore is used outdoors, on foot, often with headphones on and in places you do not know. Watch for traffic and obstacles. Do not use Lore while driving, cycling or operating anything. Do not trespass, do not enter a place that is closed or unsafe, and follow the rules of wherever you are. Where local law restricts photography, that law is your responsibility, not ours.

Map positions and GPS are approximate and can be wrong. Do not use Lore for navigation, and do not rely on it in an emergency.

Your account

You need an account to use Lore. Keep your credentials to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us accurate information, and tell us at nate@loreaudiotours.com if you believe someone else is using it.

One account per person. You may close your account at any time from Profile → Settings → Delete Account, which deletes your content as described in the Privacy Policy.

Tours you create

You keep ownership of the photographs you take and the tours you make with them. We claim nothing.

To be able to run the app at all, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt, publish, publicly perform and display that content, for the purposes of operating, improving and promoting Lore. The licence lasts as long as your content is on Lore, and ends when you delete it — except for copies another user has already saved, and for backups that are overwritten on their normal cycle.

Tours you create are public. Once a tour finishes generating, every signed-in Lore user can see and play it, together with its photo, its location and your public profile. Please read section 4 of the Privacy Policy before you publish.

You promise that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that it does not infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy or publicity rights.

What you may not upload or do

  • Photographs of people taken in a way that intrudes on their privacy, or of anyone who has told you not to.
  • Anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, or that depicts or promotes violence.
  • Content that infringes someone else’s intellectual property.
  • Deliberately false or misleading places, or spam.
  • Automating, scripting or scraping the app or its APIs; circumventing device attestation, allowances or rate limits; or reselling access to Lore.
  • Probing or interfering with the security of the service, or using it to build a competing product.

We may remove content or suspend an account that breaks these rules, and we may do so without notice where the content is unlawful or harmful. If you believe content on Lore infringes your copyright, write to nate@loreaudiotours.com with enough detail to identify the work and the tour, and we will act on it.

Passes, plans and payment

Listening is free. Browsing the map and playing any tour costs nothing and always will, with or without a plan. What you pay for is creating a tour, because that is the part that costs us money to run.

Passes

A pass gives you a stated number of tour creations over a stated number of days. Passes are consumable purchases: they are used up, they expire on their own date, and they do not renew. Buying a pass while you already hold one adds to it rather than replacing it — your remaining tours carry over, and adding days extends the window you are in. Unused tours expire with the pass and are not refunded or carried into a new one.

Monthly plans

Monthly plans are auto-renewing subscriptions. They renew at the end of each period and are charged to your store account until you cancel. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, in your Apple or Google account settings — we cannot cancel a subscription for you. Cancelling stops the next charge; it does not shorten the period you have already paid for.

Limits

Every plan carries a daily cap on tour creations, which exists to stop abuse rather than to ration normal use; ordinary sightseeing does not come near it. We may refuse or delay a creation that appears automated or abusive.

Prices and refunds

Prices are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency, and may change — a change never affects a pass you have already bought. Apple and Google collect the payment, so refunds are theirs to give: request one through Apple or Google Play. Where the law gives you a right to cancel or a right to a refund, that right stands regardless of anything in this section.

If we withdraw Lore entirely, we will honour or refund the unexpired portion of any pass or subscription then running.

Availability

We do our best to keep Lore running, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. Creating a tour needs a network connection and depends on services we do not control; those services can be slow, can fail, and can change. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any part of Lore at any time. If we discontinue it altogether we will give reasonable notice in the app, and the refund promise in section 7 applies.

Third-party services

Lore uses Google (Firebase, Gemini, Maps and Places), Microsoft Azure Speech, RevenueCat, and the Apple and Google payment systems. Your use of the app is also subject to their terms where they apply, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions. Map data and place photographs are supplied by Google and remain subject to Google’s terms.

Ending this agreement

You may stop using Lore and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Where the reason is not serious or urgent, we will give you notice and a chance to put it right.

If we terminate your account for a reason that is not your breach of these terms, we will refund the unexpired portion of any pass or subscription. If we terminate it because you broke these terms, we will not.

Sections 3, 6, 11, 12, 13 and 14 survive the end of this agreement.

Disclaimers

Lore is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from a course of dealing or usage of trade.

In particular, and without limiting section 3, we make no warranty that the content of any tour is accurate, complete, current or reliable, nor that the app will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties. Where that is so, the exclusions above do not apply to you, and nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither we nor our suppliers are liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill or opportunity, arising out of or relating to your use of Lore, on any theory of liability, even if we have been advised that such damages are possible.

Our total liability arising out of or relating to this agreement is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or twenty-five United States dollars.

Nothing in this agreement excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Lore Audio Tours LLC and its members and agents from any claim, loss or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of content you upload, your breach of these terms, or your violation of any law or of anyone else’s rights. This does not apply to the extent the claim arises from our own wrongdoing, and it does not apply where you are a consumer and the law says otherwise.

Governing law and disputes

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and the state and federal courts sitting in Wyoming have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from it.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, or of the right to bring proceedings in your local courts. Before starting formal proceedings, please write to nate@loreaudiotours.com — most things are quicker to fix that way.

If you installed Lore from the App Store

The following applies to you, and Apple requires that we say it plainly:

  • This agreement is between you and Lore Audio Tours LLC only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for Lore or its contents.
  • Your licence to use Lore is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on any Apple-branded device you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules, except that it may be accessed by other accounts through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Lore.
  • If Lore fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to any warranty are our responsibility.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to Lore, including product liability claims, any claim that Lore fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
  • We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of any third-party claim that Lore infringes that party’s intellectual property rights.
  • You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a United States Government embargo or designated as “terrorist supporting”, and that you are not on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of this agreement, and upon your acceptance Apple has the right to enforce it against you as a third-party beneficiary.
  • We, not Apple, are solely responsible for support. Questions go to nate@loreaudiotours.com.

General

If any provision of this agreement is held unenforceable, the rest stays in force and the unenforceable part is narrowed to the minimum extent necessary. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign this agreement; we may assign it to a successor to our business. Together with the Privacy Policy, this is the entire agreement between us about Lore.

We may change these terms. If a change is significant we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page will change. Continuing to use Lore after that means you accept the new terms; if you do not, stop using the app and delete your account.
